There was no rest for our Store Support Colleagues this Christmas time who were all working incredibly hard to support Tesco with their seasonal replenishment.

Our ‘Mission Control’ centre in Orpington were core to planning and deploying large numbers of people throughout the UK.

Over 1000 of our colleagues worked across 138 stores completing 7000 shifts, of which 75% were during the very last week prior to Christmas. Nearly 100,000 hours were spent merchandising approximately 60 million items of Christmas stock onto shelves.

Regional Management teams were on call 24/7 to facilitate the project, communicating with stores and colleagues to ensure the operation ran seamlessly.

The Teams also supported Tesco in additional departments to ensure merchandising standards were maintained in order to maximise sales during the months leading up to the festive period. Over 8000 twilight shifts were completed in other areas of the stores; Nationwide from Cornwall right through to the remote areas of Northern Scotland.

RAS Colleague Simon from Maidstone commented ‘December can be a quiet month for Store Support, so it was great to be busy working in the Tesco stores. I enjoyed the fast pace environment that is vital to maintain optimum stock availability for Tesco’s customers.’

Thank you to all our colleagues who supported these special projects and for spreading goodwill and cheer throughout!
